Yellow Lion wins Highclere Castle Gin Handicap on the 10th August at Salisbury. Jockey A Voikhansky.

Wednesday 20th September 2023

Highclere Castle Horse Feeds sponsored the first race the Carnarvon Cup Handicap for Gentleman Amateur Jockeys (created by Lord Carnarvon's grandfather many years ago) this race was won by a young lad Ben Pollard riding Always Fearless who was taught to ride at Richard Hannon’s stable and was having his first race under rules at a proper racecourse.

Richard Hannon had a treble that evening with Always Fearless in the 1st race, Yeah Nah 2YO in the 4th and Yellow Lion in the 7th race all of these powered by Highclere Castle Horse Feeds.

Highclere Horse Feeds also sponsored the 6th race the Highclere Castle “Perfect Gin” Handicap over 5F and this was a rare dead heat between Joy Choi & Tilia Cordata.

A great story of grass roots racing with local sponsorship and in Yellow Lion’s case a Home Bred winner for Highclere Estate.
